Burns Night: A Dram to the Bard

We’re raising a dram to the Bard this Burns Night.

We introduced our Millionaire’s Shortbread, a beloved Scottish dessert with a 10th Street twist — chocolate and caramel slow-infused with our STR Port Cask for a rich, whisky-forward finish in each bite.

Paired with our Peated Rum Cask 418, a whisky we’re certain Rabbie himself would have loved.

Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible

2025–2026

Our Peated Port Cask Finish was highlighted in the American Microdistilleries section—an incredible nod to our single malt program.

Excerpt from the tasting note

— JIM MURRAY, WHISKY BIBLE 2025–2026

“10th Street Peated Single Malt Port Cask Finish barrel no 24 db (97) n24 for a moment the brain stops registering what it is being told from the glass: it is in shock. How can this bright, lightly acidic peat — a kind of blend between farmyard cow pens and anthracite fires — work in such effortless harmony with this cherry fruitcake-studded Port cask?”

“Mesmerising…; b24.5… you groan… you purr… you sigh… you marvel. And then you wonder! You know that it is unlikely you’ll often be in contact with a malt that caresses so many taste buds so intimately. The erudition of the peat is the stuff of poets, the sculptures and shapes created when in tandem with the fruit is the domain of artists… Nothing undercooked or overdone.”

“The salvation levels, the gritty sweetness of the malt above and beyond the smoke, the layering of the plum pudding and cherry cake… just wow…! 24. You know you are coming to a close when a little chocolate seeps into the mix. The phenols and fruit form a graceful guard of honour as it does…; b24.5”

“American single malt has just been redefined. It is unlikely you’ll encounter a more perfect marriage of peat and wine cask than this. I’d call it a masterpiece.”

“Except that is possibly doing it an injustice. As Ardbeg’s old blender, I can tell you that had this been one of my creations from that fabled distillery I would have been a very proud man. That this occurred in a single cask is almost miraculous.”

Peated Port Cask — “The Grill Master”

Tongs in one hand, Peated Port Cask in the other yelling at the kids to keep their hands off that dang grill!

Pair With: Burgers or Bratwurst Bold • Smoky • Dark berry sweetness

The one who’s manning the grill, flipping burgers, and keeping the tailgate alive. They've got their tongs, their “kiss the cook” apron, and a very specific opinion about charcoal versus gas. They’re the reason everyone gets fed, and just like this whisky, they bring the bold, smoky flavor everyone craves. But DO NOT touch their secret sauce, or you’ll be left with sad, soggy buns.

Why it works: This dram tastes like the grill itself, rich smoke, dark berry sweetness, and a little spicy; much like the BBQ sauce they’re about to slap on to everything. The smoke clings to the charred meat while the fruity sweetness cuts through the fat, making every bite of burger or brat taste even better. Take a whiff of the grill when you take a sip of the whisky, which is what they’ll be doing until they make sure everyone is fed.
